This centuries-old accrued knowledge is called “ education ”, which makes humans the smartest creatures on the planet earth.  The basic measurement for education is called the rate of ‘literacy’. The global adult literacy rate is 86%. 75%of the world’s illiterate population lives in South Asia,West Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. National Education Policy 2020

National Education Policy 2020 announced by the Minister of Human Resources Development (MHRD) and approved by the union cabinet on 29 july 2020. 
The policy came after 34 years and renamed it as Ministry of Education, -replace the 34 year old National Education policy (NEP) 1986-  only the third major revamp of the framework of Education.
The aim of this policy is transformational reforms in schools and higher education systems in the country. In this policy approx 2,00,000 suggestions were taken. It was constituted under the chairmanship of eminent scientists Dr. K Kasturirangan - Presently chancellor of Central university of Rajasthan and NIIT university- with the purpose of universalization of Education.

Highlights----- School Education 
  • The current policy 10+2 is replaced by 5+3+3+4 curricular structure corresponding to ages 3-8, 8-11, 11-14 and 14-18 years respectively. 
  • Emphasis on foundational Literacy and Numeracy.
  • No rigid separation between academic systems, extracurricular, vocational streams in schools.
  •  Teaching up to at least Grade 5 to be in mother tongue/ regional language.
  •  A new and comprehensive National curriculum framework for Teachers Education, NCTE 2021,will be formulated by the NCTE in consultation with NCERT. By 2030, the minimum degree qualification for teaching will be a 4-year integrated B.Ed. degree.
  • Gross Enrolment Ratio in school education to be raised to 100% by 2030 
  • To bring out of school children back into the mainstream through an open schooling system.
  • It will also have 12 years of schooling with three years of Anganwadi/pre schooling.
Higher Education---
  •  Gross Enrolment Ratio is to be raised by 50% by 2035.
  • The current gross Enrolment Ratio is 26.3%.
  • The policy envisages broad based, multidisciplinary, undergraduate education with flexible curricula.
  • Undergraduate Education can be 3 or 4 years with multiple exit options.
  • Academic Bank of credits to be established to facilitate transfer of credit.
Higher Education Commission of India will be set up as a single umbrella body for the entire higher Education.
Moreover the aim is to educate students with practical knowledge.
In other words we can say that A NEP aims to facilitate an inclusive, participatory and holistic approach, which takes into consideration field experiences, empirical research, stakeholder feedback. It is a progressive shift towards a more scientific approach to education.
The prescribed structure will help to cater the ability of the child. If implemented in its true form, the new structure can bring India at par with the leading countries of the world. It will help to meet the goals and aspirations of the students. It is correctly said that "Execution is more important than Planning", hence Execution of the policy will decide its success.

2020 cyclone

2 020   is proving to be one of the worst years of 90s.., according to the current situation. The year started with the forest fires in Australia, followed by the global pandemic Covid-19, Vizag gas tragedy,  deceased migrant labourers, earthquake, train accidents and now the cyclone amphan   taking the lives of 72 people till now. The cyclone has hit the eastern coastal plains i.e. West Bengal, Odisha and some pther parts of Bangladesh. As the scientists have predicted that it will be second most devastating cyclone after 1999, government had started to plan a week earlier. Loke evacuation from homes, supply of food, madicines, and many kore things, but despite these a lot of damagrs can be seen in Bangladesh.
