“ Education is the key to unlocking the world, passport to freedom”                                                     Oprah Winfrey What separates humans from animals is the ability of humans to write, read, learn and teach . This centuries-old accrued knowledge is called “ education ”, which makes humans the smartest creatures on the planet earth.  The basic measurement for education is called the rate of ‘literacy’. The global adult literacy rate is 86%. 75%of the world’s illiterate population lives in South Asia,West Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Kerala- Natural Beauty

Kerala, a place of natural beauty known as natural capital- is a state on the southwestern Malabar Coast of India-

is gradually losing its value because of the regular calamities like landslides and floods. The state is full of different biodiversity of Flora and fauna. Many incidents of disasters witnessed in Kerala which is still continuing in this year due to human intervention on tha land of people with one of highest literacy rates all over India. Several incidents of unprecedented floods and cases of landslides were seen which is common now for the people as it arrives every year.

Landslide refers as the movement of a mass of rock, debris or earth down a slope. Landslides are a type of mass wasting which denotes any down slope movement of soil and rock under the direct influence of gravity. The reason behind it, slow weathering of rocks as well as soil erosion, earthquake and volcanic activities.

Reason

  1.  Human exploitation of natural resources does not come to end. Cutting mountains for making roads which internally weakens the mountains.
  2. Political leaders often ignore such issues for their vote bank. They have never focused on such issues deeply.

We can say that these things are undermined when the natural calamities occur, some people die, ex gratia is given to the family members and then everything is back to normal.

Things that can be done--

  • Afforestation in large scale so that soil could hold the roots strongly and there can be lesser chances of soil erosion and flooding.
  •  Some norms should be made to restrict the use of natural resources. Political parties are very important to set norms and stimulate people to mitigate their consumption of resources for long run.
  •  Education which is a key point, should not restrict to exams, good Marks, jobs.

Kerala is a marvelous place by all means.

"There is no chance of the welfare of the world unless the condition of women is improved. It is not possible for a bird to fly on one wing." In a democratic country where equality is on its peak priority, a social evil that originated a long time back is still in practice. Female foeticide is the procedure of abortion to terminate female fetus from the womb of the mother after taking sex recognition tests( ultrasound). More than 2,00,000 girls are killed each year especially in U.P. and Bihar as compared to other cities. Several religious, social, financial and emotional factors are the reasons behind the female foeticide. Most of the parents prefer son to girl because they think they have to pay a big amount as dowry at the time of marriage and also believe that tha son will carry the name of their family in future while girls will get married a day and will have a separate family. Illiteracy, insecurity, poverty and increasing ratio of rape are also the major reason for gi...
